About Tom Kates
Photographer Tom Kates, educated at Brandeis University in Massachusetts, holds active membership in the American Society of Media Photographers. Since 1991, he has owned and operated Tom Kates Photography in the Boston suburb of Brookline. Over the years, Mr. Kates’ clients have ranged from some of the largest companies in the United States to local nonprofit groups and small businesses.
The disparate nature of Tom Kates’ various projects can be extraordinary. For one assignment, he might be photographing an “extreme fisherman” who harpoons 300-pound tuna fish while floating in a one-man kayak in the Atlantic Ocean. For the next, he might find himself shooting a stressful but life-saving “Whipple procedure” in the operating room of a Boston hospital. Mr. Kates also does a tremendous amount of work for educational institutions in the Boston area, including Harvard University, Dartmouth College, the MIT Sloan School of Management, the Rivers School, and the Buckingham Browne & Nichols School.
